The line-up for Dubai's New Year's Eve has been unveiled, and it includes drone performances and fireworks from eight different sites
As Dubai says farewell to the year 2023 and moves on into the year 2024, fireworks will be lit up the night sky from eight different spots around the emirate.
Dubai announces the most important New Year events
At the stroke of midnight, fireworks displays for New Year's Eve (NYE) will be launched at the following locations:
- Burj Khalifa
- Palm Jumeirah
- Burj Al Arab
- Hatta
- Al Seef
- Bluewaters
- The Beach
- Global Village
In the span of a single night, Global Village will not only celebrate the arrival of the new year once, but seven times. On the main stage, the celebrations will start beginning at eight o'clock local time, which corresponds to midnight in China. Following Thailand at nine o'clock, Bangladesh at ten o'clock, India at ten thirty, Pakistan at eleven o'clock, the United Arab Emirates at twelve o'clock, and finally Turkey at one o'clock, the countdown concludes. At the stroke of midnight, there will be a distinct countdown and a fireworks show to commemorate each passing second.
Dubai's officials made this announcement at the same time that they unveiled the New Year's Eve lineup, which includes concerts, drone displays, beach parties, and a variety of food options.
The use of drones
At the New Year's Eve festivities held at The Beach, JBR, and Bluewaters, there will be two displays that will feature more than 800 drones that are synced with one another.
The first concert will begin at eight o'clock and will honour Dubai's history. The second show will begin at ten o'clock and will envisage what the city will be like in the future.
Musical performances
• New Year's Eve gala at Atlantis, The Palm: Sting, the legendary leader of the English music scene, will be the main attraction at this event. Desert Rose and Every Breath You Take are only two of the legendary songs that the singer, who has won several Grammy Awards, will perform with his live band consisting of thirty musicians.
• Dubai Opera: Fantastic Negrito, the Dubai Opera Big Band, and DJ Slim will perform in Downtown Dubai. In time for the new year, visitors will be taken to the promenade to see the Burj Khalifa fireworks.
Rudimental, Sigala, and Nathan Dawe will perform at Zero Gravity Dubai's beach event.
Known for his classics like Love Me Again and Call Your Name, John Newman headlines at Rixos The Palm.
The Gipsy Kings, southern French musical icons, will perform guitar-inspired tunes at Burj Al Arab's Marine Garden.
