UAE: Retailer cuts prices of 10,000 items, offers Dh5,000 gift cards for Ramadan

In an effort to reduce traffic and provide consumers more convenience, it is considering the introduction of drive-through shopping choices.

The Sharjah Cooperative Society revealed on Wednesday its commitment to allocating Dh35 million for Ramadan 2024, alongside significant price reductions on nearly 10,000 items, primarily comprising essential food products.

These reductions, up to 75% on staples like cooking oil, flour, and rice, aim to ease the financial burden on consumers during the holy month. These discounted items are available across the society's 67 branches throughout Sharjah, ensuring accessibility for all residents. Additionally, weekly offers will introduce further discounts beyond the initial 10,000 items, starting on February 22.

In an effort to enhance the customer experience and foster community engagement, the society has launched a campaign featuring enticing giveaways. Shoppers spending Dh300 or more will have the chance to win prizes, including two Suzuki Dzire cars weekly, along with furniture and shopping gift cards. Moreover, the society is offering three types of food baskets for purchase, priced between Dh99 and Dh399, which will be distributed in collaboration with Sharjah Charity to those in need.

Majid Al Junaid, CEO of the Sharjah Cooperative Society, affirmed the society's commitment to ensuring a consistent supply of essential goods across its branches despite global supply chain challenges. Addressing concerns about potential price hikes during Ramadan, Al Junaid emphasized the society's dedication to maintaining affordable rates for consumers.

Furthermore, the retailer is exploring innovative solutions to enhance customer convenience and mitigate traffic congestion, including the introduction of drive-through shopping options. This initiative reflects society's proactive approach to meeting evolving consumer needs while prioritizing accessibility and affordability.

In a similar vein, Union Coop, a Dubai-based retailer, recently announced substantial discounts of up to 75% on 4,000 items, further underscoring the commitment of UAE retailers to supporting consumers during Ramadan through competitive pricing and attractive offers.
