UAE Announces Major Road Closures for Saturday UAE Tour 2024

On Saturday, February 24, provisional road closures will be implemented in Abu Dhabi in order to facilitate the passage of the UAE Tour 2024 cycling race through the city.

Drivers have been notified of the closures by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) and event organizers. They are advised to be vigilant and anticipate potential disruptions while operating a motor vehicle during the event.

Scheduled to take place from February 19–25, the UAE Tour is a prominent cycling event organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. It is the sole UCI WorldTour race in the Middle East and attracts top cyclists from around the world.

Saturday's stage of the race will commence from the iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi, proceeding towards Saadiyat Island and Yas Marina before continuing westward and re-entering the city through Khalifa City. The route includes landmarks such as Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island, Qasr Al Hosn, and Abu Dhabi Breakwater, offering spectators and participants a scenic journey through the emirate.

To facilitate the smooth flow of the race, road closures will be implemented in phases, with durations ranging from five to twenty minutes. These closures will occur sequentially along the route, allowing cyclists to pass safely while minimizing disruptions to traffic flow. The phased closures are meticulously planned to ensure minimal inconvenience to residents and commuters while prioritizing the safety of participants and spectators alike.

Motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly, taking into account the scheduled road closures and potential delays. Additionally, strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations is emphasized to maintain order and safety on the roads during the event.

By cooperating with the directives issued by authorities and exercising patience and vigilance, both residents and participants can contribute to the successful and enjoyable execution of the UAE Tour 2024 in Abu Dhabi.

In intervals of five to twenty minutes, the roads will be closed:

  • Phase 1: 1-1.15 p.m. from the Louvre across Saadiyat Island
  • Phase 2: 1.15–1.35 p.m. through Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Road
  • Phase 3: 1.35–1.40 p.m. through Yas Island
  • Phase 4: 1.40–1.45 p.m. on Al Maha Street
  • Phase 5: 1.45-2 p.m. on Al Raha Street
  • Phase 6: 2-2.15pm on Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street
  • Phase 7: 2.15-2.30 p.m.
  • Phase 8: 2.30–2.45 p.m. in Masdar City and Khalifa City
  • Phase 9: 2.45-2.50 p.m.
  • Phase 10: 2.50–3pm
  • Phase 11: 3–3:10 p.m. on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street
  • Phase 12: 3.10–3.20pm on Um Yifeenah Street
  • Phase 13: 3.20–3.30pm on Reem Island
  • Phase 14: 3.30–3.40 p.m. on Zayed the First Street
  • Phase 15: 3.40–3.45 p.m. on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street
  • Phase 16: 3.45–4.10pm
  • Phase 17: 4.10–4.30pm from Al Bateen Street to Marina Mall
