UAE announces Choithrams supermarket chain expansion across the Gulf region

Choithrams, the renowned supermarket chain in the UAE, is set to undergo a substantial expansion, encompassing the opening of numerous new stores across the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar, along with the introduction of online shopping services in Bahrain and Qatar.

This expansion initiative coincides with the celebration of its 50th anniversary in the UAE. Furthermore, Choithrams has solidified a partnership deal with Sainsbury's to retail the UK-based major's products in the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain.

Despite these ambitious plans, the company has clarified that it has no immediate intention of going public. Instead, it intends to finance its expansion endeavors through internal resources and bank financing. Rajiv Warrier, CEO of T Choithram & Sons, revealed plans to open 4-5 stores in the UAE and three each in Bahrain and Qatar this year.

Additionally, the supermarket chain will launch Megamart.bh and Megamart.qa, online shopping platforms for Bahrain and Qatar, to meet the growing demand for online shopping.

Warrier emphasized that Choithrams will focus on enhancing its e-commerce capabilities and warehouse infrastructure to align with market needs and consumer behavior. While the company remains committed to its private status, it aims to continue innovating and growing its presence in the region.

Choithrams, with its 50-year legacy, has become synonymous with quality and convenience in the UAE. The supermarket chain has played a pivotal role in introducing various international retail products to the UAE market through strategic partnerships.

By maintaining a robust presence across multiple trade channels, including modern trade, groceries, convenience stores, and duty-free outlets, Choithrams continues to be a trusted destination for everyday needs in the UAE and beyond.
