The Department of Human Resources in the United Arab Emirates announced an exception for employees working in shifts, or whose jobs are related to serving the public or managing public service facilities.
Determine work schedules to suit operational requirements
The Ministry of Human Resources explained that it urges each of these agencies to set working hours for these categories of employees in a way that suits their operational requirements, and to ensure the proper functioning of public service facilities regularly and steadily during the day off.
The Ministry announced that next Monday, January 1, will be an official paid holiday for all workers in the private sector in the country on the occasion of New Year’s Day.
It is worth noting that this decision came in implementation of another decision of the Council of Ministers in the United Arab Emirates regarding approved official holidays for the government and private sectors.
Circular regarding the New Year holiday
The Ministry of Human Resources in the UAE issued a circular regarding the New Year’s holiday in the federal government, so that it will fall on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Work is scheduled to resume after the end of the holiday on Tuesday, January 2, based on the Cabinet’s decision regarding the official holiday agenda for the government and private sectors in the country.
