Rain in UAE: Dubai Metro Guide Today Amid Service Disruption on Red & Green Line

Asma Ahmed - | UAE

On Tuesday, about 200 passengers were left stuck across different stations as Dubai Metro services were severely disrupted by the record rains in the UAE.

Due to continuous service interruptions, riders should carefully plan their journeys if they want to use the Metro today. Station operations and Metro timetables will be affected by scheduled repair works along the red and green lines on Wednesday, April 17, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

To assist affected passengers, free shuttle bus services will be provided to facilitate their journeys. Meanwhile, Dubai Tram continues to operate as per its regular schedule.

For commuters relying on the Dubai Metro, here's a rundown of operational stations on the red and green lines:

Red Line:

  • Operational stations span from Centrepoint to GGICO, BurJuman to Business Bay, and Jabal Ali to Expo 2020.
  • Services have resumed at four stations—Emirates Towers, Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, Financial Centre, and Business Bay—with efforts underway to gradually reopen the remaining stations.

Green Line:

  • Operational stations include Etisalat to Abu Hail and Creek to Al Ras.
  • Shuttle services are available for commuters traveling to affected stations.

The RTA is diligently working to restore full Metro services, prioritizing passenger convenience and safety amidst challenging conditions.

Moreover, due to the suspension of Metro operations in the direction of Centrepoint, an estimated 200 individuals were detained at Jebel Ali Metro Station, where they endured hours without access to amenities. Commuters sought clarification from service providers regarding the disruption, expressing discontent with the absence of information concerning the anticipated timelines for service resumption and the closure of critical amenities such as Zoom stores and restrooms.
