A new ruling has been issued by the UAE concerning nationals and residents who work for the country.

After the emirates were impacted by uncertain weather, the UAE expanded remote work for government workers nationwide.

Deadline for remote work

The deadline for remote work is now Friday, April 19, 2024. All employees are covered by this, with the exception of those who must physically be present at work.

According to the UAE, this decision has taken into consideration the situations that have arisen as a result of the unpredictability of the country's weather.

All federal offices, with the exception of those in critical areas, have been operating remotely since Tuesday.

Businesses in the private sector have also been advised to put their employees' safety first. Some, meanwhile, had to brave the storm in order to complete their tasks.

Weather warning

Residents in the UAE have been advised to stay indoors as some roads have collapsed and streets have become flooded due to heavy rains.

Only in "cases of extreme necessity" were citizens advised to leave the security of their homes by the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).

Car alert

The government also recommended that drivers park their cars in "safe, elevated, and distant locations away from areas prone to flooding."

This is the second stay-at-home alert that the authorities have released in the past two months. Roads leading to valleys and mountains were closed in March due to unpredictable weather, so locals were advised to stay inside.
