Under the direction of Abdullah Al Ali, Executive Director of Traffic and Roads and Chairman of the Traffic Management and Transport Systems Committee, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has devised an all-encompassing strategy to guarantee seamless traffic circulation throughout the New Year festivities.
Security Measures
The Burj Khalifa location will be the primary target of the 11,972 troops and 1,525 patrols, civil defense, and medical vehicles that will be deployed around the emirate as part of the strategy.
Unified Control Center
At RTA's central control center, the Dubai Police, Civil Defense, and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services will work together to manage traffic and the flow of visitors, particularly in the Downtown neighborhood.
Road Closures
Road restrictions are scheduled to occur in many regions surrounding the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Streets like Future Street, Al Asayel Street, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Lower and Upper Financial Center Roads, and others are impacting this.
Metro and Tram Services
The Dubai Metro's red and green lines will operate continuously for 40 hours, starting at 8:00 a.m. on December 31. The Dubai Tram will run from 9 a.m. on December 31 to 1 a.m. on January 2.
Parking
Road restrictions are scheduled to occur in many regions surrounding the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Streets like Future Street, Al Asayel Street, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Lower and Upper Financial Center Roads, and others are impacting this.
Bus Services
More bus services have been arranged, with 230 shuttle buses operating from metro stations and taxi stand areas. Various bus routes have been designated for different destinations.
Taxi Stands
Several taxi stands will be available at Al Wasl Club, ensuring accessible transportation for attendees.
Signage and Traffic Management
Directional signage will guide movement, and traffic signals on key roads will be controlled from the traffic control center.
Pedestrian Bridges and Elevators
Some pedestrian bridges and elevators along the Dubai Water Canal will be temporarily closed during the New Year's Eve festivities.
Civil Defense and Ambulance Services
Dubai Civil Defense will deploy over 947 firefighters, supported by modern vehicles, to respond to emergencies. Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services has 178 ambulances, four boats, and 556 paramedics on standby across the emirate.
Emergency Preparedness
Ambulances, paramedics, and support teams are strategically stationed at vital areas and designated points, ensuring a quick response to any emergencies during the celebrations.
This comprehensive plan demonstrates the authorities' commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable New Year celebration for residents and visitors in Dubai.
