The Dubai government has unveiled a comprehensive security strategy for the 32 venues hosting the New Year's Eve fireworks.
Dubai's Security Plan for New Year's Eve Celebrations Unveiled
In order to better oversee the festivities, the 55-member Events Security Committee (including both public and commercial organizations) has split the city into four sections: North, Central, West, and the Maritime Region.
Fireworks Displays and Viewing Screens
The committee announced that fireworks displays will be held in prominent locations, including Burj Khalifa, The Beach, Bluewaters, Palm Jumeirah, Kite Beach, Hatta, Global Village, Al Seef, and Festival City. To enhance the experience for workers, several viewing screens, coordinated with the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, will be set up, featuring six screens and food services to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration without congested the city.
Unified Security Plan
The heads of all 55 organizations are working together to make sure that everyone who attends the event is completely safe, according to Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, who chairs the Events Security Committee. All parties involved have contributed to the development of a cohesive security strategy in accordance with their areas of competence. Securing tourist locations and retail centers, managing traffic, and overseeing the New Year's Eve celebrations are all part of an all-encompassing plan.
Deployment of Personnel and Road Closures
There will be around 12,000 people on hand to oversee the celebrations, with 5,574 police officers and 1,525 patrols, civil defense, and ambulance vehicles providing additional support. The closure of roads leading up to downtown and other prominent areas will start at 4 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m., with Sheikh Zayed Road being the last to be closed. The Roads and Transport Authority will also deploy 230 buses to speed up traffic on the Dubai Metro, which will operate for 40 hours during the festivities.
The Civic Body's Role in Cleanliness and Monitoring
In order to ensure that all of the celebration venues, including Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, and several beaches, are adequately staffed, the Dubai Municipality will be deploying 2,700 executive and field teams. In densely populated regions, 2,281 sanitation personnel, 242 supervisors and monitors, and over 300 trash cans will keep things tidy and free of litter. Additional teams will be formed to ensure compliance with requirements in the areas of health and safety, food safety, and park management.
Emergency Services and Ambulance Deployment
Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services is set to station 178 ambulances, four boats, 556 paramedics, and 35 supervisors across 46 events. Ambulance vehicles will be strategically stationed in vital areas, and the corporation has allocated additional ambulances and support units for various locations, including Hatta Festival.
In collaboration with Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defense will deploy over 947 firefighters across celebration sites to ensure safety.
As Dubai prepares for a grand New Year's Eve celebration, the meticulous planning and collaborative efforts underscore the commitment to a secure and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors alike.
