The United Arab Emirates has launched new roads that reduce travel time by 60%, in order to ease the burden of travelers and motorists.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority announced a new road project on Sunday that will reduce travel time by up to 60 per cent in five areas in Al Qusais. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract to construct internal roads and lighting works in Al Qusais Industrial Areas 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5.

The road project that will reduce travel time in the UAE will feature 32 10km roads with 43km of street lighting, that will boost road capacity by 200 per cent - from 500 to 1,500 vehicles per hour - in both directions.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, said: “The internal roads project improves the connection of Al Qusais Industrial Areas, which are served by four main streets: Amman, Beirut, Aleppo and Damascus Streets, and improves the entrances and exits of 320 workshops, 25 residential buildings, shops, and an educational area.” The population of the region is 60,000 people.” At the same time, the Roads and Transport Authority is currently working on internal roads and lighting in four residential areas: Margham, Lehbab, Al-Lusaili and Hatta, and it extends over a total area of 37 kilometers. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. The internal roads project in Margham covers the construction of 8 kilometers of streets along the Dubai-Al Ain road near Skydive Dubai, as the project serves more than 1,100 residents in the neighborhood, while in the Lehbab area, the Roads and Transport Authority is building 4 kilometers of roads alongside Along with rainwater drainage and street lighting works, it serves about 3,000 residents and improves the connection of the residential area under construction to the road network. In addition, roads are being constructed with a length of about 7 km in the Lusaili area, and work is underway on lighting works for the existing roads that extend with a length of 14 km in Sih al-Salam near Last Exit and Al-Qudra Lake, where the project serves about 2,900 residents and improves entry and exit points in the area. In the Hatta area, there are roads extending for a distance of 2 km in Sa’ir, Al-Salami and Suhaila, where the project serves about 6,000 residents and improves entry and exit points for the residential community Road network under construction.
